5 Healthy Snack Ideas Guaranteed To Get Yours Kids Excited For Summer

Getting your kids excited about healthy snack options is sometimes easier said than done. With Summer approaching we thought we’d share some healthy snack options that are sure to get even the pickiest eaters excited! Thanks to The Happy Gal for these wonderful snack ideas.

Fruit Kabobs

Materials:

  • Kabob Skewers
  • Watermelon (cut into cubes)
  • Grapes (washed)
  • Bananas (cut into 1/4 in. slices)
  • Strawberries (washed and used whole or cut into halves)
  • Kiwi (cut into 1/4 in. slices)
  • Cantaloupe (cut into cubes)

Instructions:

  1. Layout your skewers.
  2. Assemble your kabobs by piercing fruit and alternating between the different options layering the fruit one on top of the other.
  3. Once you’ve assembled all your kabobs set in front of your kids and watch them dig in!

Snack Sticks

Materials:

  • Block of cheddar cheese (cut into stick slices)
  • Slices of whole wheat bread (cut into stick slices)
  • Apples (cut into stick slices)
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Celery (cut into stick slices)
  • Carrots (cut into stick slices)
  • Ranch dressing (for dipping)

Instructions:

  1. Arrange the various snack sticks on a plate or tray with a bowl of ranch dressing for dipping and viola!

Watermelon Pops

Materials:

  • Cookie cutters in various shapes
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Watermelon (cut into at least 1/4 in. slices)

Instructions:

  1. Using the cookie cutters cut out various watermelon shapes.
  2. After you’ve finished cutting out all of your shapes slide a popsicle stick into one side of the watermelon shapes.
  3. Once all your watermelon shapes have popsicle sticks lay them out on a platter or stick them in a watermelon half and serve like pictured above.

Yogurt Covered Raspberries

Materials:

  • Greek Yogurt
  • Toothpicks
  • Cutting Board
  • Wax Paper
  • Raspberries (washed)

Instructions:

  • Lay the wax paper over the cutting board.
  • Pierce the raspberry with the toothpick, then dip it in the greek yogurt, and place on top of the wax paper.
  • After you’ve dipped all the raspberries place them in the freezer for 2-3 hours.
  • Once the yogurt has solidified your yogurt covered raspberries are ready to eat!

Banana Ice Cream

Materials:

  • 4 ripe or overripe bananas
  • Vanilla
  • Desired toppings

Instructions:

  1. Slice bananas and freeze for 2-3 hours.
  2. Puree frozen banana slices in the food processor stopping to mix in the bananas
  3. When the bananas are almost at the consistency of soft serve ice cream add the vanilla.
  4. Add in your desired toppings and serve.
