Valentine’s Day is a few weeks away so we couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to find some fun and cute crafts you could do with you little bees to celebrate the day of love. We found two fun, personal, and creative crafts that will make for the perfect valentines.
Handprint Valentine
Materials
- Red finger paint
- White paper
- Markers
- Glitter
- Heart shaped foam stickers
- Glue
- Fold a piece of white paper in half
- Now with your paper folded in half, place it in front of your child so that the card opens down not up. This is to ensure your hear displays right side up when you stand your card properly.
- With your child’s hands thoroughly covered in red paint place them onto the paper ensuring they keep their thumbs slightly bent and their pointer fingers touching to make a the shape of a heart. Feel free to do a couple of practice runs on scrap paper to get the perfect heart.
- Add some sparkle to your handprint heart by sprinkling glitter over it while the paint is still wet.
- Once the paint is dry use the markers to write a Valentine’s Day greeting on the front and a personalized message inside the card.
- Decorate the front and inside of the card using the heart shaped foam stickers. Use at little or as much as you’d like. Once you’re done decorating you’ll be finished creating this cute and personal valentine.
- Different types of paper
- Scissors
- Hole puncher
- Scotch tape
- Yarn
- Markers or crayons
- Bite-size pieces of candy
- Cut out 2 paper hearts making sure they are the same size by folding 2 pieces of paper in half (3-4 inches squares), and cutting out a heart shape from the fold.
- Punch 8-10 holes around each paper heart, making sure to match the holes on each heart.
- Cut a piece of yarn about 3 feet long. Wrap a small piece of tape around one end of the yarn to make it easier to thread the yarn through the holes.
- Thread the yarn through the first hole at the top of the heart and tie a knot at the end of the yarn to secure it in place as you thread. Loop around or stitch in and out with your paper heart, making sure to lace up each hole.
- Once you’ve laced up your heart, pull the yarn through so the yarn is the same length on both sides.
- Now tie off the two ends together, forming a loop for a necklace or a door holder.
- Using the crayons or markers write valentine’s day message, or the recipients name. Put in some candy. Now you’re ready to pass out your valentine.
